| How Are You Fairing? |
This fairing with stereo receiver is the first and only four speaker fairing in the industry. Top quality hand laid fiberglass construction, gloss black gel coated and ready to paint.
This kit includes quick-release brackets to mount on stock windshield docking points. Kit includes CD/stereo, 200 watt output (complete with weather door), and XM satellite ready and it's an easy three wire hookup to your bike's electrical system.
The kit includes 12 inch clear windshield, and heavy gauge stainless steel mounting brackets. Drag Specialties part #2330-2006 will fit 1994 - 2006 Road Kings and part #2330-007 will fit 2000 - 2006 Softails. this fairing is made by Hoppe Industries (you can check them out here). Hoppe offers five windshield heights. This particular one has five mounting points, compared to Harley's three. Installation is simple. Start by removing the detachable windshield, next remove the OEM hardware and rubber bushings that are the windshield's mounting brackets and replace them with Hoppe's stainless steel bushings. Add blue lock tight, but leave acorns loose for now. Install fairing to new bushings, now you can torque the chrome acorn nuts to 20 foot pounds. Once the fairing is attached to the bike you will notice the factory-like appearance.
The wiring is also simple. There are only three wires to hook up : blue to the positive side of the battery, green to the negative side of the battery, and the brown wire goes to the orange and white ignition wire that also powers the tail lights. There is easy access to this wire at the rear fender taillight connection under the seat, close to the battery. After all the connections are made, just plug it into the fairing with the quick-detach wiring harness.
This high watt receiver is Sirius ready and MP3 capable; it also has an internal antenna for that clean look. The inner fairing is unpainted and the finish is polished to a semi gloss gel coat.
Drag Specialties offers this fairing with stereo receiver for $1,694.00. This bolt on accessory takes about two hours to install, not including painting the outer fairing shell to match your bike. The coolest part about this fairing is that it is detachable.
Important safety note from Hoppe industries : any modifications like adding a fairing, extended controls, different handlebars, etc will have an effect on your bike's handling. That does not mean bad, just different. Take some time to get to know your bike after installing your fairing. The decreased wind felt by the use of a fairing can affect your perception of speed, leading you to possibly ride faster than you are aware of. Crosswinds and passing large vehicles will have an affect because of the larger front surface area. Handling in parking lots may feel slower.
Last, but definitely not least, take time before your first ride to become familiar with your new radio's controls. Set the preset channel buttons, adjust the volume and tone, and know how to turn it off and on without having to take your eyes from the road. Your new fairing will give you miles of smiles and get you there less fatigued, but not if you plow into something will playing with your new radio.
Until next time, ride everyday.
